[12th May 2012 - 10:48]

Majority of affected lines are back up now, however please read the update below for advice if you’re still offline.

[12th May 2012 - 10:40]

We have seen a small number of lines come back up, but have not yet had the all clear from BT.

If you are still offline please do the following:

Reboot your router firstly – you can do this by unplugging the mains from the back of it for a few seconds, and then plugging it back in.

If the above does not work, power down the router for 20 minutes, this will clear any stale sessions, then power back up and try to connect.

If you are still unable to login we would recommend trying the above once more.

We apologise again to any affected customers, and thank you for your patience

[12th May 2012 - 10:10]

Information from BT Wholesale is very limited at the moment, but we now have confirmation that this outage has been caused by failed hardware within BT Wholesale’s core network and engineers are onsite working to replace it.

Next update due at 10.30

[12th May 2012 - 09:30]

BT Wholesale are currently experiencing a major service outage which is preventing large parts of the UK from accessing broadband – this is affecting multiple ISPs.

Engineers are onsite and we believe are working to replaced failed hardware.

Next update due at 10.30.

We have received the following notice from BT Openreach:

As you will be aware, we’ve just come through the wettest April on record and with 40 flood warnings and a further 152 flood alerts in place across the UK yesterday, this is having a significant impact on our network.

The South of England had initially been hit hardest by the rain, but recent days have seen the North impacted too.

Having monitored the weather situation closely, we had expected, and therefore planned for, high repair demand this week, and so broadly this increase is in line with our forecast and plan.

Unfortunately, in some areas the level of faults have more than doubled and as such we will need to declare MBORC (Matters Beyond Our Reasonable Control) for all repair activities in 12 of our 73 SOM (Senior Operations Manager) patches.

MBORC will be in place for repair with effect from 09.00 today Wednesday 2 May 2012 in:

Canterbury

Tunbridge Wells

Brighton

Portsmouth

Esher

Croydon

Crayford

Southend

Ipswich

Broadlands

Luton

Lea Valley

We will continue to monitor the weather forecast with the Met Office and will inform you of any changes that occur.
